How to choose a UK online casino in 10 minutes

  1. 1. Check the licence (2 minutes)
  2. 2. Look at withdrawals, not deposits (3 minutes)
  3. 3. Read the three bonus terms that matter (3 minutes)
  4. 4. Find the safer-gambling tools (2 minutes)
  5. The short version

Most problems players report come down to three things: a site that is not licensed for Great Britain, slow or blocked withdrawals, and bonus terms nobody read. You can rule out all three in about ten minutes.

1. Check the licence (2 minutes)

Scroll to the footer and find the UK Gambling Commission licence number. Search for it on the Commission’s public register and check that the company name matches the one in the casino’s terms. Every casino in our ranking has passed this check.

2. Look at withdrawals, not deposits (3 minutes)

Every casino makes paying in easy. Open the banking page and look for withdrawal times, limits and fees. Methods that pay out within a day, such as PayPal or Trustly, are worth more than a long list of deposit options.

3. Read the three bonus terms that matter (3 minutes)

  • Wagering: how many times you must play the bonus through. UK offers are capped at 10x.
  • Maximum bet: the stake limit while a bonus is active.
  • Expiry: how many days you have to finish.

Our wagering guide walks through an example.

4. Find the safer-gambling tools (2 minutes)

Deposit limits, reality checks and time-outs should be one or two clicks from your account page. If you cannot find them quickly, that tells you something about the site.

The short version

Licence first, withdrawals second, bonus terms third. A big headline offer never makes up for a failure on the first two.
